November 2007
Hello everyone and welcome to our November 2007 edition. We start off by getting back to basics in our
article "A Beginners Guide to Genealogy Research" which contains some interesting tips for both
the novice and the more seasoned Genealogist.
Next, our fun quiz and article explore the world of Strange Laws. For example, did you
know that it is illegal to wear armor in the British House of Commons? Many laws still
on the books today derive from times passed when the world was a markedly different place.
Some are just weird. Take the quiz and then join us as we explore this interesting subject.
Our Handy Sites of the Month examine two excellent sites to help you with your research
into ships and passenger lists. Come with us as we examine toppassengerlists.com and Great
Lakes Passenger Lists. Our Book of the Month is "Your Guide to Cemetery Research" by
Sharon Debartolo Carmack.
Finally, join Paul Duxbury and Kevin Cook as they explore several ways
to search ship manifests for your family's history.

Take the quiz and find out how much you know about quirky laws from around the world.

What's New?
Work on the new familyhistoryplace.net continues. At this point we don't have an exact time for the launch of the new version. We're likely targeting fall 2008. Additionally, no new newsletters will be released during this time as we continue to dedicate our resources towards the development of the new version of our site.
