This month we are reviewing Tracing Your Irish Ancestors (Third Edition) by John Grenham.
John Grenham is a seasoned professional Irish genealogist. This book serves as both a reference book and a text book, teaching you
the things you need to know to do your research, as well as helping you do the research itself.
The book contains: Maps of Ireland's Catholic Parishes, lists of passenger and emigration lists, a complete listing of Church of Ireland parish registers,
and many other resources. The maps of the Catholic Parishes were actually drawn by the authors father and give the date of the earliest
records available for each parish.
As many of you likely know, researching Irish Ancestors can be frustrating sometimes. This book can help you alot. It is very well written
and will help you in the hunt for your Irish Ancestors. While discussing the standard civil, church, census, and land records; it also covers
wills, deeds, newspapers and other less known and less used record sources.
Many readers refer to this book as the "Irish Genealogy Bible" - we don't know if we'd go quite that far; but it is an excellent research tool
and it is very well put together. For that reason we highly recommend this book as an addition to the library of anyone with Irish Ancestry.
